Christmas at Galeries Lafayette: Castelbajac designs the windows and the tree

Christmas 2026 at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann, the department store at 40 boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement, starts on Thursday 12 November 2026 from 6pm. The theme is "Au cœur de Noël" (At the heart of Christmas), and the store has handed it to French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac as artistic director.

On the street side, the animated windows along boulevard Haussmann are announced as the pages of a storybook. According to the press release quoted by Sortiraparis, a character called Armand leads the way: Father Christmas buried under children's letters, a princess choosing her tree, angels looking for a lost star, and a banquet to end. The decor is due to spill onto the facade.

Under the store's glass dome there is no fir tree this year: the store announces a tree-shaped sculpture with large coloured branches, characters and an angel on top, lit by the Visual System collective. You look at it from the upper floors, for free.

The rooftop rink is back from 24 November 2026 to 3 January 2027: a 160 sq m synthetic surface, 30-minute slots, €16 per adult and €7.50 for ages 4 to 14. Booking is required and you need gloves.
