Every autumn, Maison Ghibli, the official shop for merchandise from Miyazaki and Takahata's studio, leaves the internet for a real shopfront in Paris. This year, it swaps rue de Rivoli for 15 rue des Halles, a stone's throw from Châtelet, and fills it with pale wooden shelves.

Inside: a wall of Totoro plushies, bright-orange Calcifers, all-black Jijis, Japanese ceramic tableware, music boxes playing Joe Hisaishi's themes and rows of pins imported from Japan. Every film gets its turn, from Spirited Away to Howl's Moving Castle.

It opens on Saturday 17 October, the first day of the Toussaint (All Saints') school holidays, and runs until 3 January. Entry is free, and no booking was needed in previous years.

Want to browse without elbowing your way through? Come on a weekday, ideally before the December gift rush. Metro Châtelet or RER Châtelet-Les Halles.
