In Tokyo, Disk Union means around fifty shops and an eight-storey flagship in Shinjuku, one floor per music genre. For the first time in France, the chain brings its record crates to Paris, in the basement of Miniwax, the record shop and café that opened a year ago on avenue de la République.

The selection is by Ken Hidaka, a DJ and longtime go-between for the Japanese scene and the rest of the world. Japanese pressings, international classics (mostly second-hand) and a few rarities: Japanese jazz, city pop, funk, soul, disco, hip-hop, electronic.

The crates are restocked every two weeks, with shipments straight from Japan. None of it is sold online: you have to go downstairs and dig by hand. On the ground floor, there's Disk Union merch, Disk Union x Miniwax pieces and the famous red-and-black record bags.

Free entry, Tuesday to Saturday noon–8pm, Sunday 3pm–7pm; Metro Oberkampf or République. You have until 5 December, but the best records go in the days after each restock.
