Sagasdom is the food fair of the Outre-mer, France's overseas regions and territories, with cuisines from around the world alongside. For its 10th edition it changes season and setting: three days in early October at Pavillon Gravelle, in the Bois de Vincennes, the big wooded park on the eastern edge of Paris.
Around a hundred exhibitors from some twenty territories. Rhums arrangés (rum steeped with fruit and spices), spices, coconut sweets, and outside, street food stalls and food trucks. More than fifty chefs take turns at cooking demos, with the Cercle Gastronomique des Chefs Créoles and the cooking school Le Cordon Bleu.
Haiti is guest of honour, and Côte d'Ivoire has its own space. Over the three days you'll also run into the Meilleur Bokit de France, the contest for the best bokit, a fried-bread sandwich from the Caribbean.
Friday and Saturday run late, until 11pm, with showcases: Thierry Cham on Friday, Leee John of Imagination on Saturday. A day pass costs €10 if you buy ahead, €18 for two days, €25 for all three, and under-12s go free. It's a family event, and the venue is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Getting there: bus 77 from Gare de Lyon or from RER A Joinville-le-Pont, to the Plateau de Gravelle stop. Buy online if you can: tickets on the door depend on what's left.
