Nuits de Lumière (nights of light) is back at the Château de Vincennes, just outside Paris, for its second edition, from 15 October to 8 November. The digital art festival, launched by the town of Vincennes, only opens Thursday to Sunday, once night falls.

You go in through the Tour du Village and wander at your own pace for about an hour and a half. Fourteen installations by studios from all over the world: Bruno Ribeiro's 48 columns, Romain Tardy's council of light, Maxime Touroute's mirror.

The big moment is the historical projection mapping on the façades, which tells the château's story from d'Artagnan to Joséphine Baker in the voice of Emmanuelle Devos. The keep, the tallest in Europe, is sculpted by light all evening.

Tickets are €18, €14 reduced, €12 for young people and students, €48 for a family of five, and free under 6. Book a slot online, as entries run every half hour, or buy at the tourist office desk, 28 avenue de Paris. Metro line 1 to Château de Vincennes, or RER A to Vincennes.

Bring a jacket: it all happens outdoors, on the cobblestones.
