Francis Kurkdjian has been composing perfumes for more than thirty years. For the Journées Particulières, LVMH's open-house days, he is opening his new Paris headquarters on boulevard des Capucines, designed as a small perfume museum.
Here's how the masterclass works: nine raw materials with poetic names, and three scent portraits built from them. An eau de Cologne, a jasmine flower, a chypre (a classic perfume family). You smell, you compare, and you understand how one material becomes a signature.
A separate tour takes you through the steps of creating a perfume, from the first idea to the final blend.
It's free, but the slots go fast: registration is on the Journées Particulières website, from 28 September at 2pm. Ages 10 and up (under-18s with an adult), and there's no wheelchair access for this session. Getting there: Metro Opéra (lines 3, 7, 8), Madeleine (lines 8, 12, 14) or RER A Auber.
From 16 to 18 October only.
