On Saturday 31 October, the Parc zoologique de Paris (the Paris zoo, on the edge of the Bois de Vincennes) celebrates Halloween in broad daylight. Fantastical creatures wander the paths and turn up between two enclosures. Whether you go near them is up to you.
The animals get special feeding sessions, with pumpkins and cobwebs. Next to the vultures, storytellers read spooky tales, recommended from age 4. A face-painting stand finishes off your costume.
The Planktonautes workshops put your eye to a microscope to look at the invisible monsters living in water: plankton, seen up close, is scary enough. There are also sweets to pick up near the activities.
Everything is included in the zoo ticket, with no booking, depending on how busy it is. Come in a full costume and you get 20% off at the ticket desk. Last entry is at 4pm and the zoo closes at 5pm.
