Musée Maillol has cleared its rooms to send Gianni Versace down the catwalk. More than 120 looks stand in line like a runway that crosses almost the whole exhibition, framed by sketches, accessories and fashion photographs by Newton, Avedon and Weber.

You go from gilded baroque to pop prints, from the silk shirts worn by Prince and Elton John to dresses embroidered with starfish, while the walls switch between hot pink and electric blue from room to room.

The last Versace retrospective in France dates back to 1986. This one was meant to close on 6 September and has been extended to 31 October. Tickets are €23.90 full price, €18.90–20.90 reduced; book a timed slot online, since only a booking guarantees entry.

Open every day, 10.30am–6.30pm, with a late opening on Thursdays until 10pm; ticket desks close 90 minutes before closing. Metro Rue du Bac (line 12) or Sèvres-Babylone (lines 10, 12), in the 7th arrondissement. Leave the pushchair at home: pushchairs aren't allowed.
