Jean-Paul Belmondo, 90 films, and an exhibition all his own at the Cinémathèque française. From 7 October to 31 January, Bercy brings back the crooked smile, the cigarette and the crumpled jacket of À bout de souffle (Breathless).
The exhibition, curated by Clémentine Deroudille, follows the actor from the Nouvelle Vague (the French New Wave) to his action films: set photos, personal archives, and the stunts he performed himself.
On the poster, a photo from the shoot of Pierrot le fou, in 1965: Godard in a blazer, Anna Karina in a short skirt, and Bébel, as the French call him, in the middle, scarf around his neck, hands in his pockets.
In the cinemas, a 35-film retrospective runs alongside. The combined ticket gets you the exhibition plus a screening, from L'Homme de Rio to Le Doulos.
Tickets: €14, €11 for ages 18–25, €7 under 18, free with the Cinémathèque's Libre Pass. Booking a timed slot online is compulsory, and weekends will go fast; guided tours run on Saturdays and Sundays at 4.30pm. Metro Bercy (lines 6, 14), in the 12th arrondissement. Closed on Tuesdays.
